About 90 percent of Costco’s employees are paid hourly, and earn $22.50 an hour, on average, with access to health insurance benefits for which the company pays 90 percent of annual costs, Galanti said in March.
so the starting wage is getting increased "to as much as $14.50", but the average wage is 8$ higher?
so it would seem that 90% are getting closer to the $.25 raise, which is still a nice raise. I just hate when they insinuate that the 1$ raise is typical or that the starting wage is significant. it seems it's only significant for 10% or under. maybe costco is predominately in the northwest, so wage averages are inflated. but that's still a bit gap between supposed starting wage and average wages of 90% of employees.
