We did the same thing in the early 1980s, deregulated savings and loans, which lead to the savings and loan crisis that 75% of savings and loans closing over the next several years as a result. We deregulated again and the same thing happened.

GLBA of 1999 is a great example of bipartisan legislation. So is No Child Left Behind. Everytime the Dems collaborate with the Republican party it is a shitshow. Affordable Care Act would have been a lot better if Obama hadn't tried so hard to get Republicans to buy in or work on the law.
