Flat-out wrong. The French were instrumental in America winning the war, in large part due to the fighting they were doing in Europe, not just boots on the ground in America.

Don't forget the financial aid that America got from many countries that had beef with the UK. France, the Netherlands, all contributed to the US war effort at the time.
