good point, but couldnt they use different kinds of seat shells within the same ride? give the first 2-4 seats extra small seat shells for kids, and have 2-4 extra wide seat shells at the back for the extra wide customers.
not in the case of this ride, and no not generally because efficiency is more important than a few angry fatties.
for that specific ride you walk up to a conveyor belt which is always moving. then as the conveyor moves you get into a bench that seats 3 people side by side. you have approx 1 minute to get into the seat before you get to the end of the conveyor, they REALLY dont like hitting the e-brake to stop the belt. so all 3 seats per "car" are the same size and you're held in by a pull down padded harness and your feet dangle once it drops off the conveyor.
to add a sorting procedure would drastically cut down the number of passengers per hour. and they already regularly have 60 min wait times. the only reason 1 hour waits are accepted is the line weaves through hogwarts classrooms so u have something to look at while u wait. its pretty ingenious, the line is an attraction in itself.
