What's interesting is that many minimum wage jobs are primarily in industries which cater to working / lower-middle class (e.g. fast food).
Even in the event that the minimum wage functions as anticipated, and the gains are passed primarily to the consumer, the cost is born primarily by the less to moderately fortunate.
If we want to subsidize wages, we should simply subsidize wages. The minimum wage is awful policy.
subsidizing the poor with taxes aimed directly at corporations that make money on underpaying them is a far better idea than making a minimum wage which gives those corporations the choice to replace the low paid employees. employees would still likely lose jobs, but they'd have new social programs to fall back on rather than fuckall.
it's no shock dumb dumb heinrich doesnt understand this, its a similar case to his biden over bernie for a progressive future misunderstanding. often the quickest path to something is not the path the crow flies. 2 steps forward 1 step back is still a step forward, and beats a step back if you're aims are for a progressive future. its hard for people to understand being pragmatic if they're too morally minded tho.
