That's not the point. This isn't politics. This is pure fact. China is putting more CO2 emissions into the atmosphere than anyone else.

Yes, more ppl live there, but you act like that is new to me. Like, it's a mistake in my presentation of statistics. And as if it didn't matter.. If it didn't matter per capita, then I can have a roll here in my small country, who'd care ? It mostly does per capita, especially more because China has imposed rather immoral 1 child policies in the recent past.

China made a strong move in reducing its fossile consumption (while still increasing its global energy production, due the economical growth...)
This kind of change is only possible with a strong (or not lobbied-in-the-ass) governement... Get it ?

It's so insane to remove total populations and total production [for foreign countries ] from the discussion.

For now im more worried about India but thats another story.

/e sry typos

Theres more greenhouse gasses than CO2 you guys know, right?
Because the #1 emissions mitigation program in the world is technically the chinese one-child police from reducing their population, while the #2 biggest is the montreal protocol for cutting the amount of CFCs and later HFCs under the Kigali amendment. Even though the world only ever produced far smaller volumes of CFC emissions, the most common CFC was 16400x more global warming per molecule than CO2. We stopped their production in 1987 to preserve the ozone layer and China agreed to phase them out along with the west. But we replaced them with HFCs, which while non-ozone depleting still have potentials like 12400x for HFC-23 or still 1900x for newer R-410. So even though the Montreal Protocol was only for the ozone layer, just a few years ago Obama ratified the Kigali Amendment which phases out HFCs. And China agreed to that. And when Trump came into office, he endorsed the Kigali Amendment and Montreal Protocol.

/e wow how dyslexic am I if I even posted the image that showed what the #1 and #2 are and got them backwards
Im not even gonna correct that

These Trump tariffs are just more protectionist bullshit, but the real disappointment here is Congress. Article I gives them the power to regulate commerce with foreign nations, but instead they are just letting Trump unilaterally exploit a 1962 law on the basis of national security.

The executive branch has grown in power and size for a long time, and the problem is compounded by Congress forgetting how to do its job. These tariffs have been met with bi-partisan disapproval, and Congress could pass legislation on this issue instead of letting our chief executive act unchecked.

absolutely mindblowing to see the trump shills all of a sudden care about pollution and the environment.
also, obviously per capita is the right way to approach it, otherwise usa would have to have to compare their numbers to denmark for example.
even in terms of absolute numbers china only recently overtook the usa, who have been the worst polluter in history - by far.

also, china DOES acknowledge anthropogenic global warming and actively aims to combat it - despite having a significantly lower standard of living on average than all the main culprits (usa, japan, germany, great britain, france...)

well, they do try to use less coal, but their oil consumption will go up inevitably

at least china is expending big time in the nuclear power sector unlike germany

since the hunger for coal will rise in other countries i expect the chinese to export their stuff and emissions elsewhere go up

Good just like all other 170 nations, feels almost like co-operation.
Where is the paris agreement on that graph?

And what if Trump sprayed his hair in his room?
