Trump pardoning Dinesh D'Souza.

Law and order president, everybody. If you support him and go on television claiming your charges were political, you can get a pardon.

Are there any principled Trump supporters out there who object to this?

And you think Dinesh's prosecution wasn't political? I remember thinking it stunk to high heavens at the time, and I didn't even know anything about Preet Bharara or the later DNC money laundering. Just regular reading of Dershowitz
It was pretty nasty for a well connected politically active and motivated left-wing prosecutor to so vigorously pursue such selective charges against an outspoken right-wing critic of his allies.
But it was particularly jarring for prosecutors to seek prison time, even though plenty of political campaigns had violations and got slaps on the wrists and no individuals targeted.

Bernie Sanders's campaign got an FEC violation this year for taking foreign in-kind donations. Nobody got threatened with jail. They paid a minor fine and it didn't even make it into page 5 of the news even though its literally a foreign government colluding with his campaign.

Are you telling me Dershowitz spoke out against aggressive prosecutors?

Is there anything Trump can do that you won't vehemently defend? Lol. Aggressive prosecutors are good, except when the target is a famous right-wing figure. /Trump logic

Ah... one example of you disagreeing with the dear leader. My argument has been vanquished.

Dinesh brought no evidence that the prosecutors were being unfair. Lumping any FEC violation in with what Dinesh did doesn't seem to be a great argument. Do the law and order and tough on crime talking points only apply to darkies selling drugs?

We're all waiting with bated breath to see if Goom can come up with a few paragraphs to defend Martha Stewart and Rod Blagojevich. Might as well get those arguments ready.

That was a long-winded way of saying "no".

In other news, Trump is going ahead with the steel/aluminum tariffs.

Trump imposed steel and aluminum tariffs on the EU, Mexico, and Canada.

How do fiscal conservatives who support the president reconcile their economic principles with Trump's protectionism?

the freetrade wing of the right is folding to the dey took er jerbs wing.

tbh i dont think the average republican ever understood free trade, or that it was destined to undermine the blue collar job market. it served their purposes of being gainfully employed until it didn't, and faith wains slowly on such institutions as the freetrade platform. entire populations have to sit jobless for a few decades until they get it. they literally simplified it into "freetrade = good job for me", not that it's the opposite they aren't happy and were never principled supporters of the trade platform, just the results.
