But if you gauge success by the job and wage you draw then don't you set Higher expectations than you can reach? So that you can keep that competitive drive for bettering yourself? This would set a trap for a man to never feel the satisfaction of success wouldn't it?

No.

Take the minimum wage worker. Becoming supervisor is a success. Becoming a manager is a success. Using that experience to get a better paying job is a success. Just because you strive for more doesn't mean you can't celebrate the accomplishments you experience now.

We're also talking about success in your career. Obviously that's just one aspect of an overall successful life.

yeah and that's a good philosophy with life rather than setting one huge lofty goal set several achievable goals as a ladder of sorts, that can give you milestones to celebrate along the way. good sage stuff IceMage

Seen a few of your post and even if some like this is real i never heard of some of the stuff you post so i'm not sure about them... But this is to true in the southern parts of Sweden.

That you have a multicultural society? Yes, globalization happens. Europeans can't suck all the wealth out of the developing world for centuries and not expect to have some brown people move in

Considering your quality of life has risen directly on the backs of these people, it is only right that some of their children get some of those just deserts.

I guess as long as you weren't personally butchered in the genocides in the Americas during colonization, forced famines in the Indian subcontinent by the British during WW2, anywhere in Africa but particularly in the Congo and in the West for those Antwerp diamonds. Oh, brutal dictatorships throughout the Middle East, the creation of a fascist Israeli state, butchering of the Vietnamese by the Brits, French, and Americans, apartheid in South Africa by the Dutch Settlers aka Afrikaners, plus all the environmental disasters inflicted from the continued rape and pillage of our planet.

I'm not sure if people's lives throughout Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Pacific Islands, etc, are any better with us. I can't imagine indigenous Hawaiians being happy to have lived lives of plenty, free of economic hardship only to become niggers when their island was annexed in 1959 and their new rulers came with cans of SPAM and W2 forms.
