This would be a big bombshell even if it is a Story Daniels situations. Evangelical voters may accept adultery but abortion is another matter entirely

that's kind of what I was thinking, also:

Quote
After a year spent carefully cultivating two princes from the Arabian Peninsula, Elliott Broidy, a top fundraiser for President Donald Trump, thought he was finally close to nailing more than $1 billion in business.

He had ingratiated himself with crown princes from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, who were seeking to alter U.S. foreign policy and punish Qatar
, an archrival in the Gulf that he dubbed “the snake.”

To do that, the California businessman had helped spearhead a secret campaign to influence the White House and Congress, flooding Washington with political donations. Broidy and his business partner, Lebanese-American George Nader, pitched themselves to the crown princes as a backchannel to the White House, passing the princes’ praise — and messaging — straight to the president’s ears.

Now, in December 2017, Broidy was ready to be rewarded for all his hard work. It was time to cash in.

In return for pushing anti-Qatar policies at the highest levels of America’s government, Broidy and Nader expected huge consulting contracts from Saudi Arabia and the UAE, according to an Associated Press investigation based on interviews with more than two dozen people and hundreds of pages of leaked emails between the two men.

sounds really corrupt.

yeah, trump will of course play the "I didnt even know she was pregnant, and would never push her to have an abortion" game, but it would undoubtedly cast a very bad light on him with evangelical voters.

this might be less of an issue for the midterms, but when it comes to trumps reelection campaign in 2020, evangelical voters might really ask themselves if the benefit of keeping a republican in the white house outweighs the long-term damage trump is inflicting on "their brand".

as weird as this might sound: if this story gets confirmed and trump appoints another conservative judge to the supreme court before 2020, evangelical voters might very well abandon him in the 2020 race.

especially as the embassy has been moved to Israel and conservative justice seeds have been planted. Trump may have outlived his own worth to the Evangelicals. Then again, they love that snake Cruz so who can guess.

well, kennedy and ginsburg are very old and there's a high chance that they want to retire soon.

if one of them is forced to retire before 2020 due to health issues, or death (which is always a possibility with persons over 80), trump could appoint another conservative judge, massively shifting the court's balance to the right for the forseeable future. in this case, he most likely has outlived his worth to evangelicals.

iirc, ginsburg wanted to retire after 2016, but when trump surprisingly won, she couldnt because she doesnt want to be replaced by a conservative judge. the same might be true for kennedy.

conversely, if they are still going in 2020, there will nonetheless be a very high chance that one of them, or both, will have to retire before 2024. in that case, trump can argue that they want to reelect him to the white house since that's the only way to seize the opportunity to shift the SCOTUS to the right for decades. replacing scalia with a conservative judge was trumps most convincing argument to evangelicals in 2016, and if ginsburg/kennedy havent retired by 2020, the same argument will apply again.

theres no actual injunction issued
now, what are the implications of a judge ruling that twitter is a public forum, in terms of twitter's censorship?

emails between Rahm Emanuel and Education Secretary Arne Duncan in the days after the Sandy Hook shooting give an insight into the political strategizing going on;
http://thebaltimorepost.com/former-white-house-staff-emails-reveal-private-thoughts-amid-one-of-the-nations-most-horrific-school-tragedies/

Quote
At 6:57PM EST on December 16, 2012, Duncan wrote to Emanuel in a message titled “CT shootings.”

Duncan asked the Chicago mayor, “What are your thoughts?”

Five minutes later, Emanuel responded, “Go for a vote this week before it fades. Tap peoples emotion. Make it simple assault weapons.”

Duncan responded immediately, “Yup- thanks.”

It was two days after the shooting, when Emanuel and Duncan collaborated on a message.

“When I did brady bill and assault weapons for clinton we always made it simple. Criminals or war weapons,” Emanuel said in the email to Duncan.

“Gun show loophole?” Duncan responded. “Database? Cop-killer bullets? Too complicated?” he said.

“Cop killer maybe,” Emanuel responded. “The other no.”

The exchange ended in under 11 minutes when Duncan concluded with, “Got it.”

Quote
Arne Duncan, who served as President Barrack Obama’s Education Secretary from 2009 to 2015, began working on instituting new school discipline policies in 2011, ultimately disseminating federal guidance for schools in 2014.

The goal was to remove schools’ zero-tolerance behavior policies and to reduce and eventually eliminate disproportionate suspension and expulsion gaps between white students and students of color.

Coined “Rethink Discipline,” the move was an effort to curb suspensions and expulsions as a means to eliminate what 2014 civil rights data show are disproportionate rates of out of school consequences between white students, students of color, as well as students with learning disabilities.

This was one of the minds behind the 'restorative justice' campaign that essentially aimed to reduce disproportionate disciplinary enforcement in schools by stopping disciplining students. Its the brilliant minds who decided that because even when avowed progressive teachers wound up suspending/expelling far more black kids, rather than admit that black kids were vastly disproportionately responsible for trouble and violence, instead they decided that when one student attacks another, the attacker should sit in a room and 'apologize' while the victim is pressured to say how woke he is.

It was this policy that played a major role in allowing the Parkland shooting to occur and for the student to never get proper law enforcement attention.

So we get to see the cynical political strategy being hammered out in the aftermath of a school shooting by the guy who shares responsibility for further school shootings.
