Broad subject discussing that here in this thread would derail the topic.
But def not only in racial context like if you're against racism you're woke. I'm against racism too but if for example a black criminal gets arrested that should be normal course but a woke person would argue it's unfair/not right/etc because the person is black. The crux is that woke people love to exhibit their wokenese cuz they believe they score major points which is why they're disgusting. The woke lefties I mentioned are exactly like that, you can read many threads here if you can stomach it ^^
In relations to Ukraine the same lefties are now going mental cuz Russia the bad guys and Ukraine being a sovereign country while conveniently "forgetting" the string of events that led to this conflict showing that the West has caused it to happen. Worse yet they're cheering when for example we wage war against certain Arab nations and call it "Arab Spring" and forget we simply disregard international law and bomb the hell out of a sovereign country but now they happily accuse Russia of disregarding all international law by invading a sovereign country.
Woke people are simply dishonest and only seem to be after their next wokepoint with disregard for the consequences of their actions.
Quite frankly, I think you're misattributing political views to people because of their opinion. I've seen both far left and far right claiming woke AF shit.
The original definition of being woke has to do with racism, although the way you depict it sounds like being woke is equal to being in favour of positive discrimination of minorities (which is simply not true, another misattribution). I think you'll agree with me that the recent years have showed a shift in the use of the word towards any individual who claims to stand for "the truth" and is adamant in unveiling this truth. More often than not this basically means parroting the government opposition.
One such example of far right being woke is in my home country where some of the vaccines were called out as being "experimental gene therapy", quoted from Thierry Baudet, who is the leading figure of the Forum Voor Democratie party. This party is considered to be extreme right and its political program shows many elements of fascism (though I base this on their 2016 program, I haven't read more recent ones but they basically only reach the news when they throw racial slurs or when they spout nonsense about the covid-19 policies in the country). People hailed this quote from him, which is scientifically and factually very untrue, as being "the truth" and these people called themselves woke -- and everyone who believed anything else is a sheep, did not do their own research and has to follow the money.
I'm not saying you're wrong in people believing wrong shit about the UKR-RUS situation. My personal stance is that Russia's hands were pretty much tied, UKR did not provide a way out for the seperatists and NATO would not have UKR join them. Had UKR joined, UKR would walk into the Crimea and Russia would be unable to respond because it will lead to a war with NATO, while if the UKR did not join and did not solve the seperatist situation Russia would sooner or later solve the situation for them and make sure the solution stays in place. That's just my two cents though, and although I am interested in politics, I am not well-versed in history.
Anyway, I hope to have informed you that being "woke" is no longer bound to being far-left. If you're looking for people going mental with the ukr-rus situation, you'll find them at both ends of the spectrum. Finger-pointing to the left is just narrowmindedness on your end. Please look around, and not just across the table
