im not gonna argue with you man, im just a guy set to make a shit load of money if the awful mistake that you advocate for gets pushed through. ive been doing it too long to waste time trying to convince people anymore. pass whatever you want, i get paid a lot if you dont and a shit load if you do. just dont cry to me in 20 years when shit goes sideways. you wont be out of work anyways, its the little guys that will be taking UBI in a shitty 1 bedroom apartment just to subsist.

I mean, your argument is literally the exact argument that has been made against every other advancement that those other countries have made including ones we already discussed.

I'm not saying automation won't happen, I'm just saying that it's not going to take a shift of 15 to a shift of 2 in 10 years. It's going to take a shift of 10 to a shift of 7 a few years earlier than it would have been taken to a shift of 7 even if we had no minimum wage.

The big thing that's going to be taken out by automation is going to be transport, warehousing, and other jobs that aren't near minimum wage. We'll see a fleet of a million truckers taken down to 5% of that.

fast food workers in California in the Bay likely already make 10-12$/hour. Min wage in alabama is 7.25$.

the second that 15$ min wage gets passed states like alabama will get machines ordered. the very fucking second. im not making an argument, im a designer and engineer of the fucking machine that will ship lol.

when i need to know what the effect on rat blood will be from the 15$ min wage i wont ask you for an argument, ill ask for info.

this coastal mentality is going to crush poor states first, then the PR will die down and cali and seattle will fall too. if you think otherwise you dont get what that machine i sent you is, that's a fucking dud. a clunky old model T compared to the machines we make. and we're a small player in the space lol.

So I can see this happening obviously. Is there really anything stopping it?
Wouldn't this be an argument for some regulation to keep people working? (I don't know actually asking)
Seems if left to capitalist means IE Money is greater good/goal than anything. The AI movement is going to wreck anyone in manufacturing one way or the other.
Or all the people get China wages, which is always why we cannot compete with them?

ive been saying for nearly 10 years that we need to start building a bank of UBI funds to offset the losses. we need to pay money directly to people who get laid off due to automation, and not give it out generally. UBI needs to happen, automation taxes need to happen, R&D loopholes that companies use to make the tax payer PAY for the people they're replacing with machines need to be closed, etc.

in response i hear: "lets get a 15$ min wage", "hooray, amazon workers are unionizing", "UBI for all or else none", "automation tax isnt enough, we need to raise taxes on ALL corporations massively".

instead of actual effectual changes these morons shoot for the moon and make it 10 feet off the ground and then nothing gets done. using gas to put out fires is even worse.

we're fucked, but we can always be fucked sooner.

no. people are dumb. people will gladly accept a 1k$/month check to live in squalor. and the day that "boycotts" get announced unless corporations start to bring jobs back all that needs to be said is "food shortages" and people will flock to mcdonalds, walmart, amazon.com, or wherever else they dreamed of sticking it to.

the idea of worker empowerment is a joke, we need to bleed the corporations enough that people dont die. its at that point.

if you're smart you'll get the fuck out of any city with 20k people or more living in it, buy whatever acreage you can, and start to make whatever percent of your own food u can muster. teach your kids to do the same. living for a gubment check is their future otherwise.

The United States needs to begin building a sovereign wealth fund to replace current entitlements and lay the ground-work for UBI.

Rather than raise taxes to bridge the gap between social security's revenue and impending deficit, the government should funnel additional tax revenue into acquiring ownership of the underlying economy.

If your business can't survive paying a living wage then it doesn't deserve to exist.

What do you consider a "living wage" to be in a rural area where rent is only $400/month, a gallon of milk $0.99, and dollar burgers still cost a dollar?

This is part of WHY different areas have different minimum wages, you know. :)
