If the debate had started with trump falling over, hitting his head and going into a coma for 2 hours ghot would have said he won.
I don't think anyone did great but this was more of a biden win for sure.

I get what Trump was trying to do, be really aggressive, throw Biden off his balance and not let him get his footing back, dominate him. But it was far too much, so that Trump came across as rude, obnoxious and unhinged. He really didnt do himself any favors tonight. This was not a performance that convinced any true swing voters or undecideds to go with Trump.

Biden was kinda low energy and mediocre, but he held up fairly well, and that was all he needed to do. He exceeded the low expectations I had for him, albeit not by much.

From a strategical point of view, this was a big win for the Biden campaign. The raw outcome was either a small Biden win or a draw, while Trump would have needed a big win. Now, he has wasted his best remaining chance to turn this race around, and his performance tonight might even have further hurt his standing. I cant really imagine anyone who wasnt already a hardcore MAGA person to have liked what they saw and heard from their president tonight. This debate performance by Trump will not play well in the suburbs or among college-educate conservatives.

no, which imo is why he was hesitant to tell them to step down, not because he's racist. its an empty statement in one sense, that he has no power over them, so telling them to do anything is meaningless. but condemning them does have another important aspect, to show people that hes against them, and i think he forgets how important that is. notably, though, he DID condemn racists in the infamous "fine people" on both sides quote ... if you look at the full quote. absolutely shameful of biden to continue to misrepresent that against him.

i watched it with my daughter (11). twice she said that biden sounds crazy.

These debates are never about substance. Public facing debates are literally never about that, and it's why the presidential debate is the only debate I consider important enough to watch.

Debates that are valuable in determining who are right are conducted over several days with research being done by each side, and anymore are done in literature and not actually between individuals.
