Yeah, cops could use more training. It's a shame they aren't offered more. Some are really great, esp when they go above and beyond and like pursue jiu jitsu as a hobby.

Also, after seeing the debate, chokeholds might be a bad idea to have been banned. Having that removed from the kit (assuming they're trained on it and use it safely), is going to limit their options to avoid serious injury between the suspect and police.

I think how they have it implemented now is when under fear for your life so like deadly force levels? So in the case where a suspect is actively resisting or getting slightly more violent, it might not meet that threshold.

Not 100% sure how that policy will specifically come forth, I just thought I heard "when in fear for your life"

So, in another case of "Goomshill is a few days ahead of the news", turns out my source on rayshard's criminal record was (mostly) right and it gives a pretty good insight into his motive for going apeshit
He was indeed the same Rayshard Brooks convicted of felony child abuse / cruelty to children, false imprisonment, battery and domestic violence from kidnapping and beating his kids (+ fraud and DUI) and was still on probation when they tried to arrest him. The jail records I had didn't make it clear but while he was sentenced to 7 years for his felony child abuse, he actually only served 1 year with 6 on probation. He then violated his parole in 2016 and served another 1 year of that in prison. If he had been arrested by police he would have certainly been sent back to prison for violating his parole on top of whatever the DUI got him. Which might explain why he flipped from "trying to talk his way out of the arrest in a pleasant conversation" into violently resisting they decided to cuff him.

Brosnan had a concussion and was dazed after Brooks slammed him into the pavement, which helped Brooks steal his taser;
