To point somethings out:

First, hand guns account for over half mass shooting cases, not rifles.

Secondly, there is no evidence of correlation between lawful gun owners and the number of mass shootings. The stats are just not there!

Thirdly, vast majority of U.S. mass shootings are in cities, where there's stricter gun laws than outside city limits and tend to lean blue!

Lastly, majority of your mass shootings are intential suicides, the shooter wants to die! Anyone in their right mind don't think about suicide.

The U.S. has the second amendment to stop from tyranny (what happened in Germany) so yes, it's very relevant in discussion.

As for your NRA quote, yeah there is no proof what so ever that legal gun owners and mass shootings go hand and hand... It's actually quite the opposite.
