This will probably be overshadowed by the Manafort & Cohen news, but this is significant:

House republicans are just the classiest, most law abiding citizens ever![/sarcasm] thanks for the free seat!

the district is listed as R+11.

with this scandal, the district definitely will be competitive, but I dont think that it's a free seat for the democrats. its rather unlikely that the investigation into Hunter will conclude before the election, and the incumbency advantage and this scandal should roughly balance each other out. so in a D+(6-8%) year, there should still be some cushion in an R+11 district.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Representative Duncan Hunter, a Republican of California, was indicted on charges that he and his wife used hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign funds to pay for vacations, video games and other personal expenses and filed false campaign finance reports, federal officials said on Tuesday.

...and away we go. LOL

/e I'm getting the distinct feeling that from now until say, November 30th, we are going to see some seriously disgraceful things occurring. I think "down and dirty" won't even begin to scratch the surface of what the Dems will be trying to pull off.

Yep, Republicans are an entire party of criminals. Doesn’t matter where they are from it seems. They are all crooks.

I mean I know that reps and dems are gonna fight like cats and dogs. But I think since 2016 we've definitely seen a rise in the "destroy the career of" rather than just the normal mud slinging.

Well I mean if Hillary doesn't deserve punishment, why should this guy?

/e And if Hillary does deserve punishment, why isn't she getting it. I'm sure people like Feinstein and Brown (for example) deserve punishment too. I guess I'm wondering when and if the Reps are gonna stoop to the Dems levels in time to keep control of the House.
