When did we switch from tens of thousands of years of recorded history of "The poor starving masses" to "The poor who overeat five times the needed caloric intake until they resemble elephants"
Fat people gorge themselves in amounts of food that disgust me regardless of the nutritional content, lets be real here, fatties aren't eating the same portion sizes and magically ballooning due to a conspiracy of cola and junk food companies twirling their snidely whiplash moustaches. They're stuffing their pieholes until they expand to fill all the available space. We aren't discussing skeletal victims of poverty dying in our streets, the underprivileged don't line up for soup and wonder where the next meal will come from, they swipe a card and get five burgers and wash it down with syrup.
Food deserts are just fat apologism. Fat acceptance is an insidious and decadent subversion of cultural norms. Its enabled by political correctness, bleeding hearts and junk science.
We made serious attempts to quash smoking, and becoming at least partially taboo as a result. And its been a relative success. We need to quash obesity even more fervently
I remember the cigarette vending machines when I was a kid, and how every cool, sexy, or macho character in a movie used to smoke. Now it's rare to even find a character that smokes in movies and they're often put on the spot for it in movies they're in.
Let's not forget about lifestyle either, it isn't all a matter of irresponsible consumption. We're living increasingly sedentary lives.
