Did anyone catch that moment when Kamala stressed that Goldman Sachs approves of her economic plans and Trump didn't seize this absolute slam dunk of an opportunity to say "you can be the president for Goldman Sachs, I'll be the president for the American people"? Trump in 2024 is clearly a diminished version of himself. This was a weak performance by him, no doubt about that. He missed so many layups and got constantly distracted and triggered into his worst habits.
Kamala wasn't giving a strong performance either, all her answers were glaringly canned and she had basically zero to offer in terms of policy or vision. Aand she came across as inauthentic all night long. And I think that truly persuadable swing voters did see right through the blatant bias by the moderators...
I agree with Goom, though, that the fundamentals of this race still strongly favor Trump, so this debate was actually much more of a must-win for her than for him. At the end of the day, I don't think this debate changes much, but it was a huge missed opportunity for him. If he ends up losing this election by a tiny margin, he will look back at this debate with regret.
She won the debate, but only because Trump lost it. He's too focused on the little things and he lets them get under his skin. Kamala ducked way too much questions, but if I had to pick a winner, it was her. She knew which buttons to press. Overall, neither won for the American people.
