What is this claim of "hijacking and changing science for political activism" rooted in? What evidence do you have for this other than your general opinion? This is why we have a licensing process so hacks don't make decisions about communities that they have, as you said, "limited experience with".
Lmao, come on. Did you seriously miss the countless number of professorships and scholarships for "gender science" which popped up over the past 20 decades in academia all around the world? Did you miss the countless number of stories where professors or teachers let their students fail tests for statements like "men cannot get pregnant", which are biologically correct, but go against gender ideology? Did you miss the amount of feminist and transgender gobbledegook which is being published by scientific journals these days?
Just to give you two examples:

edit: I'll post the full abstract of that "scientific" article because it perfectly captures everything that is going wrong with Western liberalism:

Glaciers, gender, and science: A feminist glaciology framework for global environmental change research
Glaciers are key icons of climate change and global environmental change. However, the relationships among gender, science, and glaciers – particularly related to epistemological questions about the production of glaciological knowledge – remain understudied. This paper thus proposes a feminist glaciology framework with four key components: 1) knowledge producers; (2) gendered science and knowledge; (3) systems of scientific domination; and (4) alternative representations of glaciers. Merging feminist postcolonial science studies and feminist political ecology, the feminist glaciology framework generates robust analysis of gender, power, and epistemologies in dynamic social-ecological systems, thereby leading to more just and equitable science and human-ice interactions.
