The 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine violated international law (including the Charter of the United Nations).

Man you are grasping straws so hard, it’s actually entertaining.

Why do you keep doubling down on the same logical mistakes that made you look silly?

You’ve argued that Russia shooting down a hunter-killer drone in their airspace is a violation of international law and got proven wrong. This is a thread about the drone, not about the conflict in its entirety.

Now you are resorting to ad-hominem attacks and attempting to bring logical fallacies.

The dueling claims by the US and Russia are kind of resolving into a non-mutually exclusive set of spins now.
The US says the drone was in international airspace. Russia says it was inside their military exclusion zone, with its transponder off and heading towards Crimea. They both appear to be right, at least about that, as the drone was apparently recovered at Sevastopol right at the Russian naval base, just as we were figuring yesterday based on the landmasses visible in the video. Video analysts think it was about 13-15 miles offshore from the Russian black sea fleet headquarters there, and thus outside the 12-13.5 nautical mile range of territorial waters generally recognized- but the US doesn't recognize Russia's claim to Crimea anyway. But Russia sure does, and would consider it flying into their airspace. So while its not already in their airspace, its certainly right on top of their fleet and in the active warzone, inside their naval exclusion zone, blatantly spying on the same fleet we're trying to sink by passing that recon to the "ukrainians" (which might just be US mercenaries/black ops in Ukraine anyway).

So its pretty clear the US was flying right over the Black Sea Fleet headquarters, serving as an attack spotter. The US can say that this is international airspace by a neutral party, but if the situations were reversed we'd instantly declare it to be a hostile aircraft, violating our airspace and participating in attacks on the US military.

Whether you want to look at it as provocative in either direction is still trickier. It explains why Russia was attempting to down the aircraft using indirect methods like dumping fuel into its intakes so they could try to claim a pretense of not directly downing it, maybe just lie ad claim it was technical malfunctions. But it at least the US gets away with a minor black eye for Russia when we can expose them lying about it being a non-collision. Which, after all, Russia might not actually have known until they saw the video either, because they might have thought the drone was downed via the fuel dump if they saw it continue flying and careening, the impact was so minimal. Heck, even with the evidence, we still have to question whether the fuel itself had enough force on collision to ding the propellers- or something more solid was dumped along with the fuel- because its so hard to believe the aircraft could have impacted each other and left so very little damage.

Who cares? Russia should down every single American plane, drone and even satellite that comes near Russian territory.

America won't do anything. This idiot country blew it's load on the only thing it can actually do (sanctions based on the petrodollar), and that's it. It has nothing else except nuclear war and on that front Russia has a significant advantage.

holy shit, how slow are you, junior? crimea is illegally occupied territory. you can't establish exclusion zones in foreign territory, lol.

- EITHER you argue that "international law does not exist", and therefore crimea is russia now - but that would make any declaration of an "exclusion zone" moot, since no other country would have to honour it when international law doesn't mean shit.
- OR you acknowledge that there are frameworks of international conduct and relations which allow nations to establish such zones - but then you'd have to concede that crimea is illegally occupied according to the UN, meaning russia can't legally declare an "exclusion zone".

you can't have your cake and eat it, kremlin bot. your position suggests that international law only applies whenever russia wants it to, which is obviously absurd. do you never feel stupid to repeatedly make these easily debunked "arguments", lol? i really hope you're getting paid good rubles to constantly get owned like this. xD

How fucking dumb are you two. Morons

At least they're consistent with the neoliberal ethos: "We believe in a rules-based world order where the rules are whatever we say they are"

America is allowed to have military bases in countries they invaded and establish exclusion zones around them and shoot down hostile vehicles/aircraft threatening their troops. Because "international law" only applies to people we don't like. US interferes in another country's domestic politics? Legitimatized pro-democracy campaigning. The CIA overthrows another country's government in a violent coup d'etat? Liberating the people from their oppressors. America arms literal Nazis who deploy child soldiers and murder dissidents? We're the arsenal of democracy and protecting human rights.

To be true to neoliberalism in 2023, you need to shut off your brain's capacity for introspection and conscious thought in general. It just doesn't work if you try to rationalize it, why bother thinking rationally, why bother thinking?

Great analysis, thank you

We can literally close this thread now.

your claims are mutually exclusive. it can't be "russia's air space" and "no violation of international law to down it". if international law exists, it isn't russia's air space, because crimea is illegally occupied. if international law doesn't exist, the drone can't have violated it. you can't have it both ways.

shows what a hack you are when you have to act like i, of all people, am fine with american foreign policy and imperialism - even though i've consistently been one of its most vocal critics in this sub for years, lol. i mean, you're far from the only "russians murdering innocent people is fine because americans did it as well" NPCs here, but that one is a particularly dumb take. maybe stick to copying reddit posts of kremlin associated "analysts", goon-shill...

Russian pilots who attacked the drone got decorated while hundred of thousands lost and arm or a leg, PTSD, or have a shrapnel right in the face... Such a beautiful picture Putin is painting.
