I think that's complete nonsense. Based on the public evidence, the FBI had plenty of reasons to open their investigation into Trump campaign officials. A Cambridge professor having a few conversations with campaign officials isn't some serious effort to spy on the Trump campaign.
Most Republican politicians are not Trump loyalists. They're riding the Trump train until it crashes. If he fires Sessions or Rosenstein, irregardless of whether you and Goom think it's justified, he will face a serious backlash. It's not a scandal that will disappear from the news in a few days. It will be the beginning of the end of his presidency.
