well, the targeted missile strikes are meant to accomplish exactly that: keep face while actually staying out of syria.

Legitimate to change opinion yes. But with that harsh a critique of the same action by other presidents there should be an apology and admittance that you were wrong.

I.e. I was wrong to criticise Obama for involvement in Syria - I see now we need to strike them.
