You absolutely know that justified or not, if she lands in a cage, the optics are going to be brutal. We already know there's a 2 tier justice system. Are you sure this is the hill to die on when it comes to correcting that?
I think if she paid everything back in full she should get a reduced sentence, but not no sentence entirely/community service
There has to be consequences beyond just restitution. Otherwise there is no incentive to not commit this crime
There's nothing wrong with optics here, it's cut and dry embezzlement & justice would restore people's faith in the DOJ
