If she doesn't go to prison after this it's clear evidence of a 2 tier justice system

Textbook embezzlement.. red handed right in the open..

I mean, do you want her to go to prison? I'd be satisfied with her being tossed off the bench and disbarred. Is prison required? How about some community service and a reasonable fine?

I get what you're saying here, trust me, I very much do. But is throwing an extra half million her boyfriend's way really so bad?

Note: I'm not sure if I'm being genuine or sarcastic. Please don't ask.

Yes prison is absolutely required for embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer funds. So hard to tell sarcasm because there are so many people who support being soft as a kitten on serious white collar crime

Disbarring is more for process crimes and breaking the rules. This is just straight theft

Okay, but what if she repaid the half million that was inarguably embezzled in full? Like, is there any scenario where the consequence does not include prison?

You absolutely know that justified or not, if she lands in a cage, the optics are going to be brutal. We already know there's a 2 tier justice system. Are you sure this is the hill to die on when it comes to correcting that?

I think if she paid everything back in full she should get a reduced sentence, but not no sentence entirely/community service

There has to be consequences beyond just restitution. Otherwise there is no incentive to not commit this crime

There's nothing wrong with optics here, it's cut and dry embezzlement & justice would restore people's faith in the DOJ
