the idea that anyone could get that context out of any post you've ever made is pretty funny.

it actually doesn't meet the true definition.
noun
the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.
"“Don't go overboard with the gratitude,” he rejoined with heavy irony"
Opposite:
sincerity
a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result.
plural noun: ironies
"the irony is that I thought he could help me"

about 90% of the time someone says "irony" in pard it isn't irony. we've all gotten too comfortable tossing that out at anyone who we disagree with to use adverse labeling theory. its like calling someone a racist.

if santara was commending the government, given his history, that would be ironic. but that's not the case. in fact him praising our privately operated healthcare systems is about as unironic as you can get.

except its failing horribly at this time.. I find that ironic (in the sense you are speaking to) There is nothing to support that our HC is well supported or working well at this time.

Gotta say, I like the dems plan a lot better, mostly because it would pay off a giant chunk of my wife's student loans and a modest amount on mine.

Dems should drop the race stuff and be like 'we compromised. Now pass it'

and by "should" I mean "I hope" because their plan benefits me

that's a strawman. as he said its not good and it will get worse. he's putting the rising numbers in context, that being that we're seeing an increase in testing that makes inflated numbers of infected change how the curve looks on a graph.

you've made like 5 "everything is fine" posts which honestly are just strawmans. healthcare systems in large cities will be overburdened, healthcare in low population areas could be too based on their lack of ICU placements and ventilators. but i dont see anything suggesting we'll see a true nationwide failure of the healthcare system, especially with more and more states enacting stay in policies and quarantining. we should approach a flat point in the curve over time, just like other nations.

but as he already asked to no answer:

I already feel safe. I'm not in a highly at-risk category. But I have at risk parents and I am doing my part to limit my exposure, like a responsible adult. What else would you have me do? Kiss the government's ring?

why on earth are we packaging student loan debt payoff with corona virus response?

halting mortgage, car, and student loan payments and interest, ok i get that. but a payoff? just seems like taking advantage of a disaster to pass something they know otherwise wouldn't.

id save a lot of money too of course.
