Gun control legislation has been around since the 16th century. The first I can think of was under Henry VIII. Give me a minute and I'll look it up for exact details.
Yea - a 1513 Act passed by Henry VIII restricted the possession of hand guns to those with an income of over 200 marks. Later in 1533 that act was reenacted with new exemptions.
