Never read Marx in German. I'm trying to better my German atm tho!
Finnish has the advantage of using compound words as well.

The Capital is dreary as fuck (imo), you might genuinely want to skip some chapters lest they bore you to death. The Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts and the Grundrisse are much better reads iirc

What I recall from reading Marx is that at times he's surprisingly Hegelian in his choice of words and methods - so some familiarity with Hegel's terms could help. Familiarity with the concept of "Aufhebung", some conception of Hegel's notion of truth and some measure of understanding of his dialectic method of exposition would probs help loads in reading Marx.

Science isn't quantifiable like that anyways

FYI it's just called "Capital" in English.

Thanks for the relevant information Mr. If anyone says "Marx" I'm gonna correct them on something.

Has anyone here considered "Apatheism"?

When I was still a vigorous atheist, at some point I came to the conclusion that it simply does not matter. We will never find out whether the universe was created by a deity or not, but I am 100% certain that this potential deity stopped influencing the universe once he was done creating it. And even if the deity is still present, he is neither benevolent nor malevolent towards humans, since he is simply letting us do as we please. Some people have amazing lives, some people have shitty lives, and none of it is correlated with work ethics or religious devotion.

Therefore, it simply should not matter. Considering that a deity's existence is impossible to prove or disprove, and considering that there is no reason to want to please the possible deity, I go by apatheism.

It's not an alternative to atheism or agnosticism but a subcategory.

Why is it that you believe so?

I'd feel pretty bad if I was making my living by lying to people in such a way that it entirely distorts their worldview.

Might compile that Christian apologist thread now tbh. Got nothing better to do while the gf is at work.

i've long since maintained that this whole conscience thing gets in the way of easy money, i can't even take a small amount of extra change from cashiers who are bad at math :/

meanwhile i have friends who rationalize it as them giving it you freely and it's not their fault for taking advantage of the situation :o

Well there are levels of immorality. it's down to personal values. I would consider taking the extra change to be far better than what Craig does.
