In widow's defense, people whining about linking sources are too lazy to do their own research anyway.
I've never taken the trouble to source information and have somebody say "You're right, I was wrong, I change my mind".
They just nitpick the source.

There's this, too. I mean, I try to be able to back stuff up and every great once in a while someone on the other side actually cares enough to read.

If I had back all of the time that I took reading people's sources about dumb shit like 9/11 truth and anti-vax garbage, I could probably get a doctorate and have enough time leftover to hike the Appalachian trail a couple times over.

It is essential to back up claims with sources when they are relevant, whether or not someone makes use of this information is up to them. It is not your fault when someone else doesn't learn from valuable information.
