I have a working theory that involves them not being up to the task of debating me on the actual issues so they try to paint me into a box of undesirable traits. Trump/republican shill, fake libertarian, etc.
(There is a fragment of amusement for me in their false claims due to their extreme often-willful ignorance about libertarianism, especially relative to what i know. they are hardly a qualified judge)

It fulfills a variety of psychological pressures and is a common tactic among the modern identity-obsessed left. feelings and smears instead of real arguments.
It feels good to pretend that its only racists and shills who would disagree with you. a defense mechanism to avoid the bad feelings of admitting you are wrong and an excuse to avoid real intellectual pursuit.

Jordan Peterson discusses something similar about why people like to misrepresent him and try to paint him as a bad guy.
They do not want to accept that a very intelligent, knowledgeable and reasonable person disagrees with leftism, because that would mean its reasonable to disagree with it.
It would mean admitting that its not good leftists vs evil dumb rednecks and racists, and that something is wrong with their world view.

The issue with his assymetric criticism is that he goes out of his way to avoid posting about issues he SHOULD be criticizing Republicans for, even when it's an easy subject to criticize for. Republicans are in power now. He should be railing against them constantly because Trump constantly violates his Libertarian principles, but his criticisms of Trump are few and far in between.

Then when he does criticize Republicans there's an assymetry in intensity. When its Republicans its a disagreement, when its Democrats we're freedom hating baby killers.

By attacking you mean point out his hypocrisy then yes. When Trump pushes some gun restrictive policy and a person that has always been for more restrictive gun policies criticizes Trump for said policy that's pretty fucking hypocritical.

I didn't feel the need to contribute. I'm not a libertarian, nor do i feel very strongly one way or another when it comes to the second amendment so i choose to spectate, what's wrong with that?
