Clinton was a "legitimate" president candidate , incarnating the american individualism, like trump. At this level it's pretty clear they have to make concession with pressure groups and find allies (ie: nra, aipac, and whatever shits)
Russians pushed it against her for a reason, and it wasnt to help your country.
