the thing about the boogaloo crowd is

Violent revolution / assassinations / political violence have no place in civil society and both should never be used to affect change and usually backfire when attempted. But once civil society completely breaks down, violence is generally the only recourse to assert power and restore order. The mistake of both terrorist fanatics and authoritarian governments is that they warp their perception into believing civil society has reached that point when it really hasn't. Its how we get cultural marxists who scream death to billionaires while sipping on a starbucks mocha cappucino and reading reddit on their iphone.

However, we're legitimately closer to the collapse of society today than we have been at any point in my lifetime. And yet, we're still a very, very long way from that point. People are basically taking an extended holiday, the utilities still work, people are fed, so what. People who think microaggressions are a life and death situation are the irrational ones, our society could endure mass casualties and prolonged depression and still be function. But if it one day comes to the point of a true boogaloo, I'll be the one riding around on the back of a humvee with the 50 cal mounted to it.

...and I'll be using the artillery.

Trust in the stability of the civil society seems to be especially low in the U.S.
The first thing you guys did when shit hit the fan with coronavirus is flock to the gun shops and stockpile absurd amounts of weapons and ammo, as if you were preparing for civil war or the zombie apocalypse.
It appears to me as if a significant chunk of the American population considers their own society to be just one unforeseen development away from devolving into chaos and a merciless, all out war for survival.

The veil of civility is thin in such an individualistic society.

Agreed it'll never get to that point. People nowadays are too lazy to die for anything. My words are just empty dismissal refusing to take them seriously.

But pretending both parties are equally bad seems to help Republicans, because usually Democrats are better at governing.

This is also true.
