which railway company donates to AOC again? i mean, you're not wrong about dems being their usual, shitty "only slightly better than republicans will do" selves on the issue, but the motives were clearly not the same for everyone. the likes of AOC and bowman tried to leverage their vote by forcing an amendment regarding paid sick leave days (which ultimately failed), the core request of the unions. imo they were still wrong in not outright opposing it (like tlaib - and bernie in the senate), but to suggest they did it for the same reason as those doing their donors' bidding is a little misleading.

who would have thought that bending over for corporations to end a strike by the unions who said this was dangerous and would cause serious issues would be a bad idea?

the only strikes that have any sort of pro-worker impact once the deal is struck have serious economic impact. the rails should have been shut down until the rail companies opened up their checkbook and re-instituted the worker and rail safety protocols that Trump undid. and instead of backing that leftists from AOC to Biden bent the fuck over. period. same for the right wingers, all just smiled and signed on the dotted line for their railway company donors.

in the english language sentence structure when you state a subject "right wingers" pronouns following that subject in that same sentence apply to that subject. such as the bolded one in which "all" in the context of donor applies to "right wingers".

or at least that's what i meant. railways donate to GOP representatives, and that's a direct motivation. but the fact that striking down the railroad strike was bipartisan makes the distinction moot to me. i dont care why people from AOC to Bernie to Biden did what they did, what they did was a massive fucking mistake and beholden to capitalist interests.

in AOC's case tho, still would.

thanks for the helpful explanation. what does "same" mean though? when i put that super rare word in a translator, the german version means that one equals the other. so if you use it in a sentence prior to describing the behaviour of a group, it would equate their actions to those of a previously mentioned group for example.

bernie voted against the agreement btw, as did tlaib.

and while for rail workers it might indeed be moot to distinguish who at least put up a fight on their behalf, when the outcome is bad, someone who discusses politics should probably apply a bit more nuance if they don't want to come across as trying to simply bothsides a complex issue. i mean, there are plenty of dems who DO line their pockets with railway company donations, but not all of them do.

again, i agree it was a disappointing vote from AOC in particular, but it'd be silly to suggest that means she simply doesn't care about worker rights any more, or never did. she still has a predominantly positive track record (to which this has to be added as a big negative though) overall.
just to spare your pearls: i acknowledge that you did not explicitly say she doesn't, but the implication of specifically mentioning her and lumping her in with corporate puppets like biden and other conservatives is pretty clear.

would too, but not go out of my way to please her now, iykwim. actions have consequences...

same simply meant both bent over. some happily, some begrudgingly. i simply think its too cowardly of an act for the motivation to matter much.

when a group of experts in a field stand up and say "this is getting dangerous, we need to stop, we're not going to work because people are going to die just so out bosses who cant even turn on the headlights on these trains can buy another yacht" then the govt bipartisanly forces them to go back to work i stop carrying about why each rep voted the way they did.

we were told, and the govt ignored it. so fuck everyone involved who had a hand in it, whether it was a pinky tip or a elbow deep fist.

agree on the result and obviously can't force you to care about nuance, just wanted to address a pretty obvious and important distinction - and correct the record about bernie. fuck the whole lot though, those weren't outlandish or even just unreasonable request - particularly from a european perspective.

it's insane how much power corporations have over your government, and how little difference voting in a two party oligarchy effectively makes on some issues.
