But you can certainly make your own infrastructure. Red states receiving the most social program money would just mean those people would either leave for elsewhere or stay and become criminals or die. Based on the map I found those red states would just partner with a state less dependent. California could sustain itself minus the water thing you mentioned earlier. How long before California needs to invade somewhere to steal water? I think if the US split the red/blue divide would be able to sustain themselves without trade between them.
