I'll bet she's the type of woman who doesn't do a lot of self-assessment but spends a lot of time picking others apart. Look at how she describes her situation post-divorce. She's in control of her own situation but seems like she's pinning her shortcomings on a relationship that doesn't exist anymore.

She should have dumped him after 6 months. Her fault for staying with a loser in this case.

We also never hear his side of the story about how wonderful and affectionate and inspirational of a wife she was - I'm sure.

catharsis usually. at that point it may be easier to work oneself up from nothing into something

also its hard for humans to toe the line of constantly motivate themselves to do more without crossing over to being like a sociopath

Also because we live in a welfare state that literally shields people from the negative consequences of their own actions, as early as school and onward.

Why are we surprised when people don't know right from wrong anymore? No one ever lets them fail so that they could learn on their own.

Children aren't consequences in they're not at fault for the situation they were born into.

The welfare state led to a massive decrease in crime.

Humanity has recognized the need for social welfare programs for as long as we've existed. Even hunter gatherers provided for the infirm and Rome had the grain subsidy.

Wrong. The grain dole lasted hundreds of years and maintained the stability of the empire far longer than would have happened otherwise.
