...this is why I call them shallow . Who was Jesus talking to and why do you think the Kingdom is a reference to anything other than the Millenial Rule and the Kingdom promises to Israel ?
I apologize about the earlier verse reference...it is actually Luke 18 not luke 8.
Who was Jesus talking to? According to the Bible he was talking to his disciples who was turning away children because they were not important enough in the disciples eyes. This is sandwiched between 2 stories the parable of the tax collector and the rich young ruler. I believe he is trying to teach the disciples that humility is what God looks for and not piety.
Now why do I think that the Kingdom of God refers to something other then the 1000 year or the promise to Israel?
-1st off let's say that the 1000 year rule started then, then we would be well past that stage and the end times should have happened...well it hasn't so lets cross that idea. I mentioned earlier why I believe the kingdom of God isn't just for Israel anymore...
Luke 14
15 When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is the one who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.”16 Jesus replied: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. 17 At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’18 “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’19 “Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’20 “Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’21 “The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’22 “‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. 24 I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.’”
So Jesus is dining with Pharisees, the leader of the Jews, when telling this story. After the Jews have basically gave up their seat to the kingdom by denying Jesus, Jesus then begins to offer invitations to non Jews. He is talking about the Kingdom of God as the church and not just the Israelites.

Galations 3
26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Talks about how the their is no longer Jew nor Gentile, but all are one in God's kingdom. So now you might say that they are coming together in Abraham's seed...
I would then look at the middle of Acts at the circumcision debate. It was decided that Christians did not need to become Jews in order to be Christian and therefore did not need to be Jew to be apart of the Kingdom of God.
Hope that was thorough enough...
