I think the silver lining to covid, if there is one, is that it permanently removed all pretenses of moral or intellectual high ground that leftists could ever claim. Even the normiest boomer now finally sees things how they are, and have been for decades. Fewer and fewer people are surprised by how brazenly hypocritical and power hungry the left is, and the rift in America is now permanent. It's a little unfortunate but it needed to happen to begin the process of truly excising the leftist tumor.
