What was the purpose of the special counsel?

There's thousands of more than capable law enforcement that whatever the Trump lawyer debacle is, could of been addressed by them. The special counsel was created to look into Russian interference into the US election, not go on a witch hunt for what ever tangent that has no connection to the actual reason why they were created.

But what's the point in pointing this out for you, you're just a hack that keeps on sipping the cool aid not caring that all of this is happening for political partisan expediency.

The special counsel mandate gave the authority to look into the Russia issue and any other related issues that come up. Mueller somehow found information related to something he thought which would best be pursued outside of his investigation, so he referred it to the local US attorney(SDNY). A judge approved the search of the POTUS's personal attorney.

Of course, most of the reputable, independent people involved are Republicans. So instead of calling them Democrats, we'll call them deep state members.

So if I'm following this latest development right, it looks something like this:

• The stormy daniels saga unfolds in the press, unrelated to russia
  
• Mueller questions Cohen about the stormy daniels stuff, apparently about whether it held any tangential relevance to his russia-interference investigation
  
• Cohen offers full disclosure on the stormy daniels stuff to Mueller
  
• Mueller agrees it has nothing to do with his investigation, but then refers what Cohen voluntarily disclosed over to the SDNY after rosenstein agreed its not in his jurisdiction
  
• The SDNY then pursues an investigation into the stormy daniels payment on the basis of 'campaign finance violation' and 'bank fraud' for that $130,000
  
• The SDNY sends it up the food chain to get approval from both a judge and rosenstein to conduct an ambush search warrant
  
• They seize attorney-client privileged communications from cohen and other detailed financial records

so yeah, that's the basis of the FBI raids, its entirely about cohen paying money to stormy daniels



by the press accounts, cohen voluntarily disclosed it to mueller when asked about it
so that means mueller took that disclosure and send it along to the SDNY to go stir crazy raiding the president's lawyer over such a trivial affair?

what's the end-game here, how does cohen paying off stormy daniels constitute such a significant crime as to justify this kind of reach?

You heard it here first folks... zero evidence of Russian collusion, so onto next tabloid-level smear campaign. Something that happened 10-15 years ago in private life of then television star, Donald Trump, is a “very, very serious matter”.

When will it end?!

Starr investigated the Clintons for more than 4 years, ending the investigation in a totally different spot and context than he set out with, only basically bringing charges against 1 person.

This guy has already churned out a number of significantly more serious charges against several people in significantly more important positions all in just over a year. Witch hunt indeed!
