so, was obama, with all his passion and engagement and deceny, able to bring the sandy hook victims back to life? or did he achieve anything legislatively to prevent such shootings from happening again in the future?
trump right now is gearing for some legislative measures that fix loopholes in federal gun laws and enforcement. if he pulls through, he will have achieved more than obama on this issue, despite less favorable pictures and PR.

He's not supposed to call russian meddling a hoax after US intelligence confirms it happened.

Obama didn't have control of both the Senate and the House after Sandy Hook. He tried with executive orders and his legislation was shot down. And Trump actually repealed a rule that required SS recipients with mental health issues to be screened by FBI background checks.

If Trump manages to create significant change in the US gun control scene, I'll be surprised and applaud that action. But I believe this change needs to come from below, not from above.

And lastly, a level of decency is expected of the leader of a nation. When tragedies happen you are expected to grieve, meet with victims, the whole circus. It gives comfort to the victims and their family. Being seen at a party just hours after having met with people who underwent a severe trauma just screams lack of empathy.

while i agree that obama's record on gun control is indeed very poor, let's not forget the MASSIVE stonewalling he faced from NRA funded republicans whenever he at least TRIED.

if he actually manages to do something, good. considering his utter lack of empathy, his track record of repealing any obama efforts, and his inability to even ADDRESS guns as an issue, i wouldn't get my hopes up too soon though - wouldn't be the first time he feigned the willingness to act or compromise while facing massive pressure, and then just sat it out until public focus to shifted towards something else - until the inevitable next mass shooting when the whole process of "thoughts and prayers; it's too soon, don't 'politicise' this; it's just a mental health issue..." begins again.
