"Coronavirus relief bill"

I love that our Congress is fighting over who are winners and losers of this bailout with a focus on their own constituency and pleasing their supporters. It is too bad they can't just problem solve through this.

The GOP knows the Dems won't approve a huge bail out for their corporate owners so they can piss all over their workers trickle down fashion.

Dems know the GOP isn't going to approved a bail out that loads up union shops and outfits or provide too direct benefits to American families in peril like just cutting checks.

They know what they need to do to secure the safety net and they're not doing it.

You can only trust these fuckers to solve problems in line with the interest of the capitalist class.

the tldr is: there will be no federal cononavirus relief
democrats killed it. Any hopes of a coronavirus package are gone at this point. Pelosi made the cynical pragmatic decision to let this crisis get worse intentionally, with the mother of all poison pills. And I mean, even by normal poison pill legislation standards, this thing is batshit insane, like planting the communist manifesto inside a piece of legislation.

You're a hack though and are failing to describe the GOP bill accurately as a handout to corporations. The GOP are blowing it too but your blinders are on too tight.

I must be missing something... why do you believe this? There's no chance this doesn't get resolved in the next number of days.

Absolutely no reason to do this well despite histrionics of Mitch McConnell.

Pretty fucked up terms.

>Give us all we want or we don't get on board with helping the American public.

In a way they can get a win-win out of this considering most of the media won't cover it fairly and just label it as 'partisan bickering' meanwhile Trump will be on th e hook come election time because no one will give a shit about the pork barreling that was being forced into this in March.

This mentality leads to circular firing squads.

No mention of the GOP pork because you think it tastes good. You love those swine merchants. You and Goom eat up that GOP pork and don't wanna share lol.

The only person that thinks they have to eat their words is someone who is unaware of the larger context (and why it is not a2a)

that's foolish. people can be right for all the wrong reasons.

trump voters mad at china are basically expressing Einsteins constant. they hate china no matter what because they've been told to. saying fuck china is stylish, knowing why fuck china is accurate isn't as stylish. people were told they screw us in trade that couldn't define a tariff if u gave them 3 tries. its possible to be a sheep and right at the same time you know.

and like i said, while it's not a2a, china's 3.25x population severely offsets their oppressive tactics. still not a2a, but far closer than it would be if we had comparable populations, let alone comparable healthcare.

IceMage, you're free to come out of denial any time you want
https://www.dailywire.com/news/shock-dem-stock-coronavirus-package-with-green-new-deal-handouts-post-office-bailout-union-cash

Nancy Pelosi just revealed some of the text of her house bill.
Here are some of the wonderful provisions of her "cononavirus relief package" that was totally not designed to be a poison pill that's completely unpassable and serve no purpose but partisan obstructionism:

  • Strengthens bargaining powers for unions
  • Increases fuel emissions standards
  • Expansion of solar and wind tax credits
  • Bails out the US post office
  • Bails out student loans
  • Conducts "risk-limiting audits of results of elections"
  • Mandates national same-day voter registration
  • Mandates 15 days early voting and mail-out ballots to all Americans
  • Mandates pay equity that says gender, racial and ethnic minorities must receive the same pay at companies regardless of whether they perform the same work
  • Mandates that corporate boards must have forced diversity quotas for gender, race and ethnic identities on both the board and leadership and subcommittees
  • Expands child care and earned income tax credits that won't apply for a year

I've only had time to glance at the surface of the bill, it just came out. The compromise that senate republicans and democrats had struck was a bill narrowly crafted to apply to the immediate crisis at hand, a stimulus package of immediate relief now for Americans, small businesses, governments, the CDC and failing corporations. Pelosi's counterproposal isn't just an ideological wishlist, its a list of completely fucking unrelated bullshit that doesn't have any impact until 6-12 months from now. I'm pretty sure she unironically tucked anti-Hyde Amendment language in there somewhere just for spite.

You told us that Democrats are the only party left that governs and that they wouldn't hold up government function.

What purpose do you think Nancy Pelosi would have in crafting such a package other than to construct plausible deniability, an excuse when federal aid gets held up indefinitely?
She will point to her bill and say that the Republicans voted against the house proposal or that Mitch McConnell refused to table it in the senate.
So when McConnell decries Democrats for holding up aid, they can I-am-rubber-you-are-glue and say Republicans held up aid.

When have politicians ever taken such dramatic steps to obstruct and construct elaborate poison pills and then backed down days later?

Granted, if anyone has a record of folding under pressure its Nancy Pelosi. But its hard to imagine she just unveiled a 1119 page bill and will drop it the next day. She constructed it for a reason, and that reason was the mother of all poison pills.
The odds of getting any coronavirus relief package out of congress just dropped from what seemed like 90% a few days ago down to ~0% today.

It's funny because Trump could literally get re-elected by tackling the problem both with corporate bailouts/fed doing their things and helping the plebs by giving them cash money but Republicans would never approve helping the poor and lower end of middle class.
Democrats know this and will just grandstand like to try to tank Trump's approval ratings for the upcoming 2020 elections.

He's stuck because Republicans that will never ever put a safety net because m-muh socialism so he's trying to get people back to work to at least stabilize the market.

Congress sucks bigly.

This kind of tactic is def the most shrewd thing the dems have done in quite a while. The impeachment thing was dumb, and I can't recall all the other shenanigans that just backfired on them. But this can easily work for them come election time.

If this happens I'll concede that the only governing party in America has gone off the rails. This crisis is too serious... no way something doesn't get done this week.

From colleagues in MI: In Detroit people are coming to hospitals because there water was turned off

not exaggerating

Bailouts for everyone so far except the American public? I’m not sure what proportion of the population is self employed but I don’t think it’s negligible

Narrative now:
America/safety first and worry about finances 2nd guys! We are a strong proud country we will get over this

Narrative in 12 months:
Shoulda saved more team
