and the US has already put tariffs of over 500% on Chinese steel in the past, keep in mind
the issue is that China continues dumping its overproduced subsidized steel into other markets, and those markets have their rates drop, which in turn spills over into destroying domestic markets in America even if China is closed out
so the tariff on china is still so astronomical they can't export to us at all, but now its affecting countries like brazil and canada who were lapping up that cheap chinese steel
