'Yesterday, 26 year old caucasian male Stephen Flynn from Minneapolis made the mistake of liking a tweet that advocated for free speech. Although Flynn states it was unbeknownst to him, the tweet was written by the extreme, right-wing neo-Nazi enabler Jordan Peterson.
Dr Peterson, who has never cured anyone of a disease but uses his ph.D in psychology to add an authoritative title to his name, has repeatedly claimed he is not far-right and abhors fascism, despite a mountain of evidence that he hates communist regimes and governments dictating what people can say, showing that as his views wildly differ from the majority of university campuses, he is at the very least a Nazi sympathiser.
Flynn said he was unaware who Peterson was, until a Guardian journalist explained it to him and what liking his tweet signified, and was taken aback. "I was just browsing and read something that sounded reasonable so I liked it. Finding out I’m a Nazi is as big a shock to me as it is to anyone else. I always assumed I was a normal and measured person, so to discover I approve of the Holocaust will take some getting used to."
Stephen’s local community has been swift to condemn his views and show that his actions have consequences. After an online petition from students at his local university went viral, he has now been fired from his job working as a carer for those with special needs. The mayor of Minneapolis was also quick to denounce him, "I am all for free speech in this country, but we have to draw the line somewhere, and Stephen Flynn has most definitely crossed it."
Felicity Barnes, a lecturer in Identity Politics at a community college in Alaska, has dire warnings over the dangers that lurk in Peterson’s teachings. "One of the most widely espoused pieces of advice from his supposed self-help book is that young men should 'clean their rooms'. It seems innocuous at first, until you delve into the deeper subtext. Once a man has cleaned his room, he then has one less chore to do. This is extremely dangerous, as having less chores means men have more time to devote to things like Nazism. And there are an awful lot of white men with messy bedrooms."
Despite now being a Nazi, Stephen currently has no plans to get any swastika tattoos or call for the genocide of Jews. "I know people say this is who I am now, but I’m still struggling to get my head around wanting a large group of people to be exterminated." Nevertheless, many in America are worried that Peterson's radical 'free speech' teachings could be mobilising the rise of a new third reich, or as it may come to be known, a fourth reich.'
