Holding Russia to western ideals of democracy again. What's your point? That Russia doesn't have the freedoms we enjoy? In other news the sky is blue.

You all do it. I hadn't heard anyone use the term 'optics' until mid-last week when I used it. Now it's everywhere.

Kind of is. Not all democracies are the same. I mean look at India for example. The worlds biggest democracy but they persecute religious minorities with regularity. I'd feel safer being a Muslim in southern Russia compared to a democracy like India.

Persecuting religious minorities is a real example of an affront to Western ideals of democracy. Jailing the opposition leader isn't an affront to Western ideals of democracy, it's just an affront to democracy itself.

I get it Russia bad, Russia really really bad. Just hilarious how all the lemmings started parroting this in recent years. Russia has never been a bastion of democracy or of political freedoms but all of the sudden euphoric lads are hyper focused on Russia simply because it's being covered day and night on their favorite soap opera.

Any factual information that shows Russia or Putin in a bad light seems to trigger the same response from you. It's not like the media woke up one morning and decided to pick on Russia... they interfered in our election and now there's more attention paid to their country. If Putin didn't want a spotlight on his behavior, he shouldn't have invaded Ukraine, and he shouldn't have interfered in our election. Actions have consequences.

The reason it gets posted in the Trump thread is because his supporters(like you) just go into knee jerk defense/deflect mode of Russia and Putin, basically mimicking Trump.
