I have been living in China for the last 12 years. This recent protest was really serious and continues to be. Even during the 2 month lockdown I didn't see it reach this level. There are constant lockdowns of different areas here with no real notice given. It is crippling business and the livelihoods of many. The freedoms being taken away from Chinese citizens is staggering. For an expat there is still the option to leave here whenever they want, but the locals are having their passports confiscated. Its really sad and I hope things can take a positive turn soon! My heart goes out to all those who have been affected.

I am a Chinese citizen (learning in an International high school). I live in Beijing and I feel like I'm really living in a dystopian world: all the restaurants were shut down, online learning+working, Covid-test EVERY DAY, and Mandatory confinement with constant monitoring....No one want that. But here is the main problem now: I am confident to say that still about 80% of people in China still remain in the horror of the COVID Virus (this is because of the propaganda that CCP has done in 2021 and early 2022, stating that COVID is very dangerous). This group of people, which is about a Billion people still supports the Zero-covid policy because they are more scared about COVID than the confinements. People protesting is still a tiny minority of educated people with access to international information or the people who have been greatly affected by their policy. Things are getting better, but there is still a very long way to go. I am happy to see the spark of liberty and freedom and I am very happy to support it in the future when I grow up.

Shutting down businesses still in this economic warfare scheme, what spineless tools.
