I am on the hook for all my continuing education requirements to stay licensed, 30 hours of training every two years to stay current. It can get expensive.
As we speak i'm doing CPD hours , online this year unfortunately due to travel restrictions. Previous years income tax update was in Chile, so virtual is a bit of a downgrade id say but its paid none the less.
Brushing up on the Family Law Act this morning and Ontario law to reduce Duffmans tax burden for when he dies.. likely while looking at tranny articles while driving to quickly in his Audi.

personally i think firms should provide the funds to maintain licensing and certs etc. for employees, especially if they make it a requirement of the position.
if i ran a shop wouldnt want to lose talent that is already accustomed to the company, is licensed and educated etc. just to save a buck
If I decide to start my own practice, I absolutely would cover those costs and amortize them over 12 months. I think its essential to maintaining a non-toxic workplace. Employees will always find something to bitch about but not reinvesting into their success within the firm (part of that being continued professional development) will certainly create toxicity resulting in a less productive workplace meaning less billable hours or a poor recovery rate.
