I would argue holding one rigid stance for years on end without ever evolving or considering any opposing views to be a sign of average intelligence.
Or asperger's.
The idea that my stances haven't changed is false and so is the idea that I haven't considered opposing views.
I do not have the 'luxury' of being a bubble leftist. Opposing political beliefs are the norm.
I did not just go along with whatever is popular.
A bulk of libertarian works I read are all about addressing opposing views. They do not settle with pretending everyone else is racist or evil.
I wasn't born a radical libertarian.
Through experiences and extensive reading I challenged, changed and developed my beliefs.
Its precisely because I am open to alternate views, and question and analyze popular/previous beliefs that I was able to become a libertarian.
Even after becoming a libertarian my views have changed. My understanding of various issues and priorities are much different than they were in the past.
I went from a minarchist to someone who fully supports the nonaggression principle as an ideal.
When someone like dro is off making youtube videos of himself singing Britney Spears songs, I am reading and listening to political/news podcasts, videos, books and articles.
When I arrive at certain conclusions or know certain points to be true, it is not a sign of 'average intelligence' or weakness to not abandon those views in the face of a few ignorant people disagreeing with me.
Especially when they do not make compelling arguments (or make no arguments at all).
