China HAS to sell their steel or they will starve.
Foreign steel will move back to the US, cause it will be cheaper for
them to come to the US.
The US can't continue with the huge trade deficit with China.
That's why the quote above makes sense. and why bring the steel industry back to the US is a good thing. If any foreign steel companies want to avoid the tariffs, they can bring their steel mills....back to the US.
It was a mistake to move the steel industry OUT of the US in the first place.
It would be like moving the wheat industry out of the US. DUH !!!
/e You have to take this tariff issue and the returning steel industry together, for this to make sense.
/ee The US is the biggest importer of steel in the world. Every country that's NOT the US has to ship steel (and pay for that shipping) to be able to sell it to the US.
That's why many of the foreign steel companies will come back to the US.
