I know what it was like as much as anyone here and I agree , I wish it had never happened . But it did , it can't be undone and we are changed as a nation because of it .
That change and the relevant consequences that resulted are all in our lap. We're responsible.
Sometimes, man, I just really wish I lived in a country that had pride in the fact that it put the individual first. I wish we didn't have to occupy the middle east to justify the "United States of America". I really just wish this country took a single moment to ask "why" we were attacked on 9/11.
I wish it never happened either, but fuck I wish we learned the right lessons from it. I have mixed feelings about 9/11, I just can't disregard the death and destruction the USA wrought upon the middle east before 9/11. I simply can not say honestly, that we did not deserve the attack on 9/11. 9/11 was a mere mosquito bite to the horror we have brought down on other countries. I simply cannot cry over the horror of 9/11. I know it will only lead to even more horror. It's numb, I'm so philosophically distant from the "war on terror" that I cannot fall for any patriotic nonsense. It's nothing but a persistent state of disgust that this war on terror was allowed to squander $2Tn and accomplish absolutely nothing. It really is all for nothing, isn't it? There is nothing that can justify the amount of death and squandering we endure to live our lives?
