My gut reaction is to not like the idea of cultural hegemony. It implies the subjugation of other cultures besides the main one, which becomes absolutely dominant. But other cultures have so much to give! For example, America's culture has gained so much from the influx of other cultures besides the dominant Anglo-Saxon and/or British one. And how do we know that the dominant culture is inherently better than the other cultures? We don't.
Greece is actually hurting themselves by destroying their cultural diversity.
