My question is why were they not doing this before?

Why did they have to be forced to enforce their borders and help stop the flow of fentanyl into the USA?

Did Trump say he wants Americans to suffer? Because if that is the case you are matching his ill intentions. That still wouldn't justify it though. You are trying to become what you hate about the people you hate.

Canada had already committed 1.3billion towards border security over a month ago. i don’t think Trump got anything new today besides the appearance of success for his supporters.

Correct me if I’m wrong, my life isn’t consumed by politics like some people but the money towards the border is not something new from today

Reasonably a tiny amount of fentanyl crosses the Canada/USA border compared to Mexico/USA, much less strictness and enforcement probably needs to be done to the northern neighbors.

Curious on your thoughts why they made that commitment a month ago and not a year or two ago?

They already implemented parts of the program as early as February 2024.

I'm confused tho. You told us these tariffs were to increase domestic production. That is clearly not the case at all.
