It is wild to me how many seemingly progressive western people are stuck in the mindset of "lol black/arab/asian people can't run a society!"

Like...even if they believe it, I find it shocking that they will just say it out loud. Just rewatched Kingdom of Heaven recently and people that do this remind me so much of the Pro-war religious fanatics in that movie

It is the fundamental concept of neoliberalism: The people cannot be trusted with their own self-governance. Its the anti-democratic, anti-libertarian streak from which all their policies flow. Its not just about how they treat the unwashed mobs of heathens. Its about forcing the EU's agenda on Hungary and Poland, its about taking the orange man off the ballot in 2020, its about micromanaging the Ukrainian puppet government.

It is just crazy to me when people who would be viewed as part of the unwashed mob are so fanatical in their support for the policies of those who view them as such. It shouldn't be I suppose, not exactly unique in human history but I still find it jarring.

So the bait laid out by France failed. The Nigeriens didn't storm the French embassy so France can have a casus belli for intervention.

Seems like ECOWAS is standing down with the planned armed intervention as well. Really, no point to go to war for these countries and be dragged into conflicts to preserve imperialistic status quos.

This is one of the better outcomes IMO.
