You would have to ask Aldean himself. And keep in mind that he is under no obligation to explain anything to you.

Imagine watching a movie or a TV show and constantly asking everybody, "why did they film it here/there/in front of ___". Understand this: nobody needs to explain themselves to you, not Aldean, not TV executives, not movie producers.

So people on the right don't complain about media they don't like?

I think we are talking about different people. When I said "woke mob", I was talking about the decision-makers at CMT, who pulled Aldean's song.

I think a business is welcome to do what they want in response to consumer complaint. Bud undid their campaign with Dylan mulvaney and I don't see you crying about cancel culture in that case.

Im not talking about people on the right. I was addressing Crunkt himself only.

But was their decision really in response to consumer complaint though? I guess I can't prove anything, but it seemed like they pulled the song because it made them uneasy. Went against their values or something.

Is that not a valid reason to pull a piece of media down? Are companies obligated to host content they find objectionable?

I guess they can; however it just comes a bit too close to censorship for my liking. As a consumer, I want to be able to access a wide range of content, and I want to be the one making the decision about what content I consume and what I don't.

In fact, this conversation sort of reminds me of controversies surrounding Twitter's ban on certain views, especially those on Covid-19. I guess twitter has the right to pull content they find objectionable, but then they cannot claim that they cover and represent all the different viewpoints out there.

The top three spots on Billboard’s Hot 100 are all occupied by country songs for the first time in the chart’s history. B)

That's probably because what's mainstream popular nowadays is so garbage. Every time i get on Spotify I get adds or prompts to listen to trash like Cardi B, Nicki or Drake. There was a time i really loved rap but looking at some of the current popular songs trash is an appropriate word to describe it.

I don't listen to country at all but i'd guess those are popular because there's a general backlash against what's mainstream today.

also due to the fact that Billboard Hot 100 is calculated via radio plays. Country radio has persisted in the market more effectively than pop radio by a little margin, and then there's a STEEP drop off to where rap radio is currently. Rap radio is dead, but if you look at stuff like Spotify rap music is still incredibly popular.

Jason Aldean's “Try That in a Small Town” has become his first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, due to — not in spite of — the fact that it has incited controversy. The song was released in May, but only exploded in the past few weeks. It entered the Hot 100 at No. 2 last week and moves up to No. 1 this week.5 days ago
