We have some Republicans, but most people are still in support. It's mostly ceremonial and people see some value in the traditions/history of it all. Also the monarchy has done a lot to become more likable after a few scandals almost destroyed their popularity enough for political parties to start questioning things. Personally I don't mind them. I wouldn't support creating a monarchy if we were a republic, but I don't mind the state we're in. Our king is decent , and I guess there is some value in having a head of state stick around for more than 4-8 years. Creates some political clout.
I'm a militant Republican. Regardless of it being ceremonial and largely pointless it embodies the class system and the old concept of divine birthright, not to mention they still wield considerable influence should they choose to. People here are like 70-30 in support (according to polls a few years old) because Elizabeth is admittedly a great Queen and never puts a foot wrong, but when she dies and her dickhead son takes the throne I predict support for the monarchy will plummet. I believe that in my lifetime the UK will disband the monarchy and will personally be campaigning on the issue.
